Valentine’s Tea Party

Valentine’s Tea Party

Valentine’s Tea Party! A truly perfect day! I spent three days, alone, preparing. My silver tea service, which my grandpa Joe, had purchased in London, in 1955, needing to get rid of some existing British Pound Notes, before leaving, one last time, headed for America, with my grandma, Binnie. I polished it, although, I am a terrible polisher! I purchased tiny heart shaped sugar cubes, for the Tea. I used my mother’s beautiful crystal champagne glasses. I made butternut squash soup shooters, with crème fraiche, drizzled on top. I made elderflower mousse, in tiny plastic cups, garnished with fresh mint and berries. Smoked salmon pinwheel sandwiches. Cucumber and Colin Cowie’s Universal Tea Sandwich Spred, lemon scones, with Devonshire Cream, jam and lemon curd. Homebaked heart shaped shortbread cookies, drizzled and half dipped, in chocolate. It was a delicious thing!
